2026 Veteran Artist Challenge Coin — No purchase necessary. Please read the full Official Rules before submitting your design.

No Purchase Necessary. A Purchase Will Not Increase Your Chances of Winning. Void Where Prohibited.

1. Eligibility & Submissions

The 2026 Veteran Artist Challenge Coin contest ("Contest") is open to the following individuals who are legal residents of the United States (excluding U.S. territories and possessions) and are eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of entry:

  • (i) Veterans (i.e., current or former members of the U.S. Armed Forces, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Space Force, and their respective reserve components and the National Guard);
  • (ii) military spouses (i.e., current spouses of active duty service members or Veterans); or
  • (iii) immediate military family members (i.e., parents, children, siblings, or legal guardians of a veteran or active duty service member).

Employees, officers, and directors of Hanks For Our Troops®, Armed Services Arts Partnership (ASAP), and the Bob Woodruff Foundation (each, "Sponsor," and collectively, the "Sponsors") and all of their respective partners, parent companies, divisions, subsidiaries, affiliates, trustees, franchisees, licensees, distributors, Prize providers, and their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, independent contractors, representatives and agencies and those living in the household of same whether related or not are not eligible to participate or win.

2. Agreement to Terms & Conditions

By participating in this Contest, entrant ("Entrant") fully and unconditionally agrees to and accepts the terms and conditions of these Official Rules ("Terms & Conditions") and the decisions of the Sponsors, which are final and binding in all matters related to the Contest. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein.

3. Contest Entry Period

The Contest begins on August 7, 2026 at 9:00:00 AM Pacific Time ("PDT") and ends on August 14, 2026 at 12:00:00 PM PDT (the "Entry Period"). All entries must be received during the Entry Period to be valid.

4. How to Enter

To enter the Contest, visit the Contest website located at hankschallengecoin.com and submit your entry in accordance with the instructions located thereon during the Entry Period. Limit one (1) entry per person. Entrants who do not follow all of the instructions, and/or abide by these Terms & Conditions or other instructions of Sponsors may be disqualified.

5. Content Requirements

Contest entries must comply with the Content Requirements set forth herein to be valid. "Content" refers to all content submitted in connection with the Contest (including, but not limited to, any designs, pictures, images, videos, descriptions, writings, explanations, etc.).

By participating in this Contest, Entrants represent and warrant that their Content is the original work of such Entrant, it has not been copied from others, it has not been submitted previously in a promotion of any kind and has not been exhibited or distributed previously in any media, it does not violate the rights of any other person or entity, and does not infringe upon any third-party intellectual property, trademarks, copyrights, or proprietary rights. Any such Entrant will indemnify and hold harmless Released Parties (defined below) from any claims to the contrary.

All Content submitted by Entrants must conform to the following additional submission requirements:

  • Content, including an element thereof, must not be created, generated, or modified through the use of A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) in any manner;
  • Content must not contain material that violates or infringes another's rights, including but not limited to privacy, publicity or intellectual property rights, including copyright and trademark infringement, or legal or moral rights of any third party, living or deceased (e.g., names, logos, symbols, slogans, photographs that belong to others, photographs of other people, quotes from other people, or parodies of other people);
  • Content must not disparage Sponsors or any other third party (e.g., any person, product, location, retailer, company or brand);
  • Content must not in any way contain any names, logos, symbols, slogans, parodies or trademarks owned by any third-party other than those of Sponsors;
  • Content must not contain material that is inappropriate, indecent, lewd, pornographic, obscene, hateful, tortious, defamatory, slanderous or libelous, or features gratuitous violence, dangerous stunts, real weapons of any kind, or drug use;
  • Content must not contain material that promotes bigotry, racism, hatred or harm against any group or individual or promotes discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age; and
  • Content must not contain material that is unlawful, in violation of, or contrary to any laws or regulations.

Sponsor reserves the right to remove any Content that does not adhere to the submission requirements, as determined in Sponsor's sole discretion, and/or disqualify the Entrant. Sponsors may disqualify any entry for any reason, including if they determine that the entry fails to confirm to these Terms & Conditions in any way or otherwise contains unacceptable content. Sponsors are under no obligation to disclose why an entry has been disqualified.

6. Selection & Judging

All eligible entries will be evaluated by an official judging panel comprised of one (1) representative from each of the Sponsors (the "Judging Panel"). Each member of the Judging Panel shall have one (1) equal vote. All entries will first undergo an initial compliance review to confirm adherence to these Terms & Conditions and the Design Brief, available at hankschallengecoin.com. Qualifying entries will then be anonymized and evaluated by the Judging Panel.

Entries will be judged based on the following criteria, each worth twenty-five (25) points for a maximum total score of one hundred (100) points:

  • (1) Design Brief & Brand Alignment
  • (2) Storytelling & Veteran Theme
  • (3) Artistic Quality & Year-Over-Year Uniqueness
  • (4) Mission, Heritage & Community Impact

Five (5) finalists will be identified through independent scoring, followed by a panel deliberation to select the winning design by majority or unanimous agreement. The Entrant who submitted the winning design ("Potential Winner") will be contacted using the contact information provided on the entry form on or around October 14, 2026. If the Potential Winner fails to respond to the initial notification within three (3) days, such Potential Winner will be disqualified and an alternate Potential Winner will be selected from among the remaining finalists.

All decisions of the Judging Panel are final, binding, and non-appealable.

By entering and providing Content, Entrant grants Sponsors and its agents a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, publish, promote, or republish and otherwise use the Content, along with Entrant's name, likeness, biographical information, and any other information provided by Entrant, in any and all media, throughout the world, in perpetuity for possible editorial, promotional or advertising purposes, without further permission, notice or compensation (except where prohibited by law).

Upon selection and acceptance of the Prize, winner agrees that his or her Content will be deemed a Work Made For Hire under the Copyright laws of the United States, but if it cannot be so deemed, then the winner irrevocably assigns and transfers to Sponsor all of his/her right, title and interest in and to his/her Content, including all but not limited to all copyright and trademark rights which he or she may have, in the United States and worldwide, therein, for consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged. Winner hereby waives in favor of Sponsors all rights of "Droit Moral" or "Moral Rights of Authors" or any similar rights or principles of law that winner may now or later have to their Content. Sponsors reserve the right to alter, change or modify the winning Content, in its sole discretion. Upon request of Sponsors, winner shall execute and deliver such additional instrument of assignment, as may be solely deemed by Sponsors, reasonably necessary to establish the ownership of record of the right, title and interest in and to the Content and of the copyrights transferred and "Moral Rights of Authors" waived under these Official Rules. Should Sponsors fail to request the said assignment as stated, that shall not be deemed a waiver of Sponsors' rights and Sponsors may at a later time request the assignment.

8. Compensation, Prize & Deliverables

Prize

The prize ("Prize") consists of the following: (i) a $500 artist grant (the "Grant"); and (ii) the winning design to be minted on the official 2026 Hanks For Our Troops® challenge coin. The Prize will be awarded to the single selected winner following the successful delivery of all required production-ready vector files, social media and content components (time-lapse sketches and video snippets as more fully described in the Design Brief) and execution of any required documentation.

Failure to Deliver

In the event that a Potential Winner is unable to deliver the required components, Sponsors will work with the winner in good faith to resolve any delivery issues. The Potential Winner will be provided seven (7) days from the date of initial notification to complete delivery. If the Potential Winner fails to deliver the required components within this period, the Potential Winner will be disqualified, and an alternate Potential Winner will be selected from among the finalists and deemed the Potential Winner and subject to all applicable terms and conditions herein.

Taxes

The winner is solely responsible for any applicable local, state, or federal income taxes associated with the receipt of the Prize.

9. Media, Publicity & Likeness Release

By submitting an entry, the selected finalists and winner grant the Sponsors the right to use their name, professional biographical information, approved portrait/photo, social video clips, and Content (including process artwork) across official digital, social, and print brand channels for marketing, public relations, and media reveals without further permission, notice or compensation (except where prohibited by law).

10. Availability & General Terms

Media Obligations

The selected winner agrees to maintain reasonable availability during the mid-October 2026 media reveal phase and Veterans Day launch (November 11, 2026) for virtual or potential live appearance opportunities, without additional compensation beyond the Prize.

Release and Limitation of Liability

By entering, Entrants agree to release and hold harmless the Sponsors, their parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents (the "Released Parties") from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Contest or use of any Prize, including, but not limited to: (a) unauthorized human intervention in the Contest; (b) technical errors related that may impede entry; (c) any claim or allegation that your entry and Content infringes any copyright, trademark, or any other intellectual property right; (d) lost, late, misdirected, undeliverable, or corrupted submissions and Content; (e) errors in the administration of the Contest or the processing of entries; or (f) injury or damage to persons or property. Entrants waive the right to claim any punitive, incidental, consequential, or any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses and/or any rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased; (c) all causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, or any Prize awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; and (d) any and all claims, judgments, and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred (if any), excluding attorneys' fees and arbitration costs.

Use of Data

Sponsors will collect and use Entrant's personal information in accordance with the Terms & Conditions set forth herein and in Hanks for our Troops Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. By participating in the Contest, Entrants hereby agree to Hanks for our Troops collection and use of their personal information and acknowledges that they have read and accepted each of the foregoing.

Arbitration Agreement

By entering the Contest, Entrant agrees that exclusive jurisdiction for any dispute, claim, or demand relating to, arising out of or connected in any way with (a) the Contest, (b) the awarding or redemption of any Prize, and/or (c) the determination of the scope or applicability of this agreement to arbitrate, will be resolved exclusively by final and binding arbitration administered by Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services, Inc. ("JAMS") under its rules then in effect in the State of California, before one arbitrator to be mutually agreed upon by both parties. The parties agree to share equally in the arbitration costs incurred.

Class Action Waiver

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, any and all claims, judgments, and awards shall be limited to individual claims, and Entrant hereby waives any right to bring, join, or participate in any purported class action, collective action or other representative proceeding.

Governing Law

This Contest is governed by the internal laws of the state of California without regard to principles of conflict of laws.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms & Conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction or appointed arbitrator, such determination shall in no way affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision herein.

This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Instagram, Facebook, Meta, TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, or any other social media platform. Entrants understand that they are providing their information to Sponsors and not to any social media platform. Any questions, comments, or complaints regarding the Contest should be directed to Sponsors, not to any social media platform.
